CH 1: Attention

My mobile phone rang…. "Ready Set Go, It's Time To Run…." The ringtone was piercing my ear, making me conscious with half opened eyes. I picked up the phone without looking at the screen.

"Hello?" I said, my voice sounded tired, so sleepy. It's Bill, I clearly know as the spoke "Get ready, I'll pick you up in ten" As I was about to spoke back, he ended the call… Get ready? What for?

CRAP!

I'm late, it's the competition, Tom's in it. I quickly jumped off my bed, raced to the bathroom and fulfill my daily needs… then I got back into my room, grabbing the fresh pair of my black skinny jeans, folded in my wardrobe, along with a black t-shirt and my hoodie.

There's no time for me to do my dark blue hair, so I'm just gonna let it down for today but I must put on the eyeliner… crap… I look like a douche……. After a few mist of  body spray, diffused on my clothes, I went downstairs straight to the door with my battered converse already fix on my feet….

Bill has been my best friend ever since kindergarten, we always stuck together no matter what. He has a ultra-hot twin brother called Tom, which also my closest friend but we hardly speak to each other now days. He spent his time at the skate park along with his friends who I detest the most and vice versa. But they don't hate Bill but they just don't converse or interact with him. But I do heard rumours that they isolated Bill away because of his look, his androgynous look…

Bill pulled up as he reached in front of my house, waiting for me to get in the car, as I walked closer, I can see Tom next to Bill… Oh God… My heart raced faster and faster even I can hear it thumping behind my ribcage… my palm starting so sweat…..

"Hi" I said timidly as I got in, Tom glance over his shoulder with a smile on his face, looking directly in my jaded eyes and bid "Hello". The smile flatters me, making my heart melts, he owns one beautiful smile. Bill did the same but without the glancing part, he just concentrating on his driving.

"Did you had you breakfast yet?" Tom asked me and I said "Yeah" I lied… everything is possible for an answer but somehow I've gone numb inside and outside, probably wondering if any seconds later, my heart would stop beating because it has pumping too much blood in such a quick time…

The ride to the skate park was pretty awkward… I don't say much as I usually do… I let Bill and Tom talking while I'm enjoying the Tom's sweet velvet voice in my ear, hoping it would get stuck in my head…

I can see his friends waiting for him on the ramp, crowing among each other and among them, a girl with peroxide blonde hair and the same height as me, called Jessica, stands out the most. As I turned around, I can see Tom's already smiling but this smile making my heart cracks… He speed up his pace, walking towards her, them. My heart eventually crash into pieces as I saw him kissing her, wrapping her with his arms.

Me and Bill sat a few meters away from them, somehow he can read the disappointment on my face, he sorta giving me a warm hug….

"Do you want to go somewhere else first before the competition starts? It's like hours to go…" he checked on his phone, I shooked my head and sat on the dried grass and pulled his hands, he stumble a little and letting his giggle out…

We spent time talking and laughing at each other, ignoring the Tom's friends. From time to time, I glanced over Tom and Jessica caught me, giving me a glare and somehow she tightened her clasp around Tom…

"Cassie…" Bill spoke as he realized I wasn't paying any attention to him. "What?" I said and he shook his head…. The same thing happened constantly until Tom's opponent has arrived and the judge also more crowds are coming in, still we keeping our self few meters away, we don't feel welcome here…

"Hey, shall we be the proper audience this time?" I asked, brushing my self to get rid of the grass the got stuck on my bottom….how awkward…. "Yeah, let's" he seized my arm gently and strode across the ramp, to the empty seats.

Tom was up first, but he quickly kissed Jessica before going on the ramp. The crowd applause loudly and some whistled, he caught my eyes and gave me a small wave and then continued walking.

The music starts as he glide down of the ramp on his skateboard, ready to show off his stunts on the right place while me and Bill in our seats cheering…
